Charlotte Crash Caused by Speed, Police Say

Posted on April 20th, 2010 No Comments

According to officials with the Charlotte Police Department, speed was a factor in a traffic crash that injured two people early Tuesday morning.

Preliminary police reports show that the accident occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 85 near Little Rock Road. A sport utility vehicle rear ended a truck that was towing another vehicle on a trailer. The SUV overcorrected and careened off the road, where it was struck by a third vehicle attempting to evade the crash.

The driver of the SUV and the third car both sustained injuries in the crash. They were transported to an area hospital for treatment, police say. Authorities could not comment on the nature or extent of their injuries.

The driver of the SUV was cited by highway patrol for failure to reduce speed.
