Two children were killed and three other people seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Cherokee County, North Carolina.
According to officials with the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly before 1:00 p.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 19/74 at Beaver Creek. Authorities say a delivery truck rear-ended a van that was stopped at a traffic light, forcing it into a car ahead of it.
Two children in the van, 2 year-old Braden Martin and 14 year-old Brad Martin, were killed in the crash. Police say 16 year-old Brannon Martin was transported via helicopter to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. The children’s parents were flown to a hospital in Murphy. Police could not comment on the nature or extent of the victims’ injuries.
The Martin family was on vacation in North Carolina, from Trion, Georgia. Police say charges are pending.
