A woman in North Carolina has been charged with drunken driving and felony death by vehicle in connection with a fatal car crash.
According to officials with the Raleigh Police Deparment, 27 year-old Raleigh-resident Manuela Mantanona Gomez was responsible for a crash Saturday, that killed 24 year-old John Sullivan of Charlotte, South Carolina. Authorities say Gomez smashed into the back of a vehicle stopped at a red light, in which Sullivan was a passenger.
Sullivan was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Two other people in the vehicle with Sullivan were injured in the wreck. Police described their injuries as non-life-threatening; they were unable to give any details about the nature and extent of their injuries.
Gomez was also injured in the wreck and transported to WakeMed for treatment, police say. A spokesman for the hospital said Sunday that Gomez is in good condition.
