A North Carolina State Trooper was injured when an alleged drunk driver struck his patrol car on Interstate 77 Thursday.
Investigators for the Highway Patrol said the crash occurred shortly before 11:00 a.m. while the trooper’s car was parked along the side of the road. The officer was conducting traffic observations and was struck by another vehicle from behind. According to North Carolina Highway Patrol Sgt. Mitch Hahn, trooper Avery Williams and the two people in the other vehicle were transported to Baptist Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the other car, Joey Hollan Tester, is facing charges of driving while intoxicated, failure to reduce speed, driving with now insurance, and driving while license restricted.
