New barriers have been constructed on portions of North Carolina’s Interstate 440 after two deaths involving Good Samaritans occurred within the past four years. Authorities installed the barriers after two individuals fell to their deaths while trying to help stranded vehicles on the roadway in two separate incidents. Sources say that authorities failed to install fencing after the first accident, believing the odds of another fall happening were too slim.
