Child Killed, Family Injured in Christmas Day Accident

A 6 year-old girl was killed and five family members were injured in an accident on I-95 in Dunn, N.C.  The accident occurred when the girl’s father lost control of the family’s SUV and struck a tractor-trailer at around 1:00 p.m.

Authorities believe that slick and rainy conditions contributed to the accident.

Deadly Train Collision Possibly Caused by Warning System Malfunction

At 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, a collision involving an Amtrak passenger train and a car resulted in the deaths of a young North Carolina mother and her 5 year-old son. Man Killed in North Carolina Accident

A Webster man has recently lost his life following an accident that took place Thursday afternoon in North Carolina.  The accident occurred around 2:00 p.m. Thursday.  Three people were killed in the crash, including an 8 month-old baby.

According to reports,  the man was driving his vehicle very fast when he swerved into the other lane.  This caused the man’s car and another vehicle to collide causing a serious accident to occur.

Police are currently investigating the accident. More information should be available at a later time.

North Carolina Woman Killed in Car Accident

A Freshman at Oxford College has died after being hit by a car on Saturday morning.

King, North Carolina, native 18 year-old Stephanie Davis was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Houston Mill Road and Mason Mill Road. According to a Georgia Uniform Motor Vehicle Accident Report, Davis darted out into traffic into the path of an oncoming Toyota Rav4 shortly before 12:40 a.m. Saturday morning.

Davis was transported to the Emory University Hospital emergency room and then transferred to the Atlanta Medical Center shortly after for treatment of brain injuries.

Davis was pronounced dead at 11:11 a.m. on Saturday.

3 Injured in Raleigh Car Accident

Three drivers were injured in a three-vehicle accident in Raleigh, North Carolina.

According to police, the accident occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m. in suburban Wake County. A school bus struck a station wagon causing it to rocket forward and collide with a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck and his passenger had to be pulled out of their vehicle by rescuers because of the amount of damage the truck suffered.

All three drivers were transported by helicopter to nearby WakeMed. The truck driver is listed in critical condition.

There were seven students on board the school bus, but none were injured.

Toyota Motor’s Announces 2 Massive Vehicle Recalls

Toyota Motor Corp. announced that it will replace or reshape accelerator pedals on 3.8 million vehicles as a response to an unintended acceleration problem that has caused at least one fatal accident. It is the larges recall in the company’s history.

Vehicles affected by the recall are: 2007-20010 Camrys, 2005-2010 Avalons, 2004-2009 Prius’, 2005-2010 Tacomas, 2007-2010 Tundras, 2007-2010 Lexus ES 350, 2006 – 2010 Lexus IS 250 and IS350.

The car manufacturer will shorten the gas pedals on some models and reconfigure the floor surface beneath the pedal on all Avalons, Camrys and Lexus’

The car company also announced it will install a brake override system on the Camrys, Avalons and Lexus’.  The brake system overhaul is the result of talks between Toyota and the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Toyota also announced a separate recall of 2000 – 2003 Tundras due to rust and corrosion on the rear cross-member. The rust can cause the spare tire to break loose from the vehicles.
