Two Cousins Killed in Car Crash

Posted on October 28th, 2009 No Comments

Two cousins were killed Sunday night when their car crashed into a tree.

Brandon Cody Zinn, 20, and his 16 year-old cousin Timothy Shane Walker Jr. were traveling in a 2000 Ford Mustang on St. James Church Road shortly after 10 p.m. when Zinn lost control of their speeding vehicle and collided with a tree on the side of the road. Zinn was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Wilkes was still alive when rescue workers arrived at the accident.

A medical evacuation helicopter transported Wilkes to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, but died shortly after his arrival.

According to Trooper Brandon Neal, a police officer that responded to the accident, the mustang the two were riding in was traveling west in excess of 125 mph when it crashed near Fieldcrest Lane. Both victims were wearing seat belts.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
